    AKG mono wiper install

    Hello everyone!

I am undertaking an AKG mono wiper install. My ride is a RHD 1990 318is.

The linkage that is integral to the AKG kit is very different to the one that I pulled from my car.

Obviously there is a difference between the LHD and RHD linkages - but my question is whether there is a difference between LHD and RHD as to how the wiper motor mounts.

For my RHD car there are 3 bolts that come from the floor of the space that the motor mounts to and the motor and its carrier simply slide onto those 3 bolts. Is it the same with the LHD?

I will take some photos tonight and update this thread with those so that you can see what I am talking about. Any assistance in the meantime would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you!

    LHD wiper lingkage

    hello neighbor country!

basically AKG monowiper is modified LHD linkage

    here stock LHD linkage
    -LHD lingkage
    >> the motor attached to linkage (on passanger side RHD car)
    >> it have 3 mounting location, 2 under windshield and 1 under the motor

    - RHD lingkage
    >> the motor attached to chassis with 3 nuts
    >> and the linkage attached to chassis, it have 3 mounting location
2 under windshield and 1 behind battery tray

this is installed on LHD car

you need to cut all 3 welded screws that mounted on floor/chassis, use drill and chisel, or other tools that maybe handy to you..

then you need to make new LHD mounting location..

if your car stripped, then its easy to do fabrication and welding..

    hope it help..

      Sensational assistance!

Thank you very much. I appreciate your help.

Those photographs give me an excellent view of things. I am going to make some sort of LHD/RHD hybrid from the looks of things. I will see how it goes and will post the results.

      Thank you very much again!

is that linkage from AKG or you did modification from stock linkage?

no modifications were made during install, It an AKG Mono Wiper Linkage, Re-Used and straightened Wiper Arm, re-used existing motor.

post a pic of the custom linkage, really interested in seeing it, i would like a bit more sweep, and at this point, i actually would go back in just to get it full 180

                    Darnit
that's what I've been reading also (due to motor binding concerns, 180 not recommended)

                    bout the same as mines

Your AKG is at 180 degrees? Do you have any pictures? I'm trying to picture the end to end positioning on 180 degress.

I need to revisit this myself.

Raul, you said I need to delete the driver side mount.. but in these photos both studs are going through the cowl...

I am not getting full sweep with my modified linkage.

Need to get this handled before I get too far along (though the motor is already in.. it will be a bear to handle it)

                            It cannot sweep 180*.

If it did, it would sweep off the windshield onto the cowl on both ends. Look where it's mounted, below the windshield.

other than looks, why do you guys go mono?
