    FS - 1987 Mercedes-Benz 190e 2.3-16 16v Cosworth - $8500

    Year: 1987 Mercedes-Benz 190e 2.3-16v Cosworth
    Body Code: W201
    Exterior Color: Smoke Silver
    Interior Color: Black Leather
    Transmission: 5-speed Dogleg, Manual
    Engine: Cosworth 2.3L, 4Cyl, 16v
    Asking Price: $8,500
    Location: Corning, NY
Mileage: 192k on chassis, 163k on engine
Contact: Email via craigslist post or PM through R3V

Owned for 3 years, is my daily driver, clean title, no accidents. Original engine had an unknown incident which caused low compression in cylinders 2 and 3. A used engine with excellent compression, valves in spec and a new timing chain, was installed. In wonderful condition both inside and out, with minor issues that may be expected on a 30 year old car. Over the couple years I've owned it, it has been extremely reliable. I have maintained it well and also personalized it a bit. I put a newer steering wheel, Euro headlights, 190e 16v Evo I wheels etc. Most of the "upgrades" I did, can be reverted using the original parts that I will include with the sale of the car. I have some records from the previous owner starting in 2008. I have all of my records under my ownership.

    Exterior
    - Original paint, in excellent shape.
    - Had a new OE MB rear wing painted and installed, and the trunk lid refinished to remove some rust.
    - Painted mirror caps body color, new tow hook cover, front bumper resprayed.
    - Bosch Euro headlamps installed with lower trim panels for wiper delete (original NAM headlights included)
    - Headlight wiper system deleted (original trim, wiper arms, motors included)
    - Only a couple minor scuffs/scratches, and a small ding on the passenger side door
    - Small spot of surface rust about 1/2" long in between drivers rear fender and trunk lid.
    - Dr. Colorchip kit included for touch ups

    Interior
    - No rips/tears on either front seat
    - No rips/tears on rear seat
    - Headliner is perfect
    - Euro rear headrests installed (using the MB retrofit hardware kit)
    - NAM drivers knee bolster replaced with Euro, flat one. Your legs won't hit the bolster! (original NAM bolster included)
    - Drivers Front, Passenger Rear door panels peeling. A repaired passenger front door panel is included with sale.
    - Dash has a few tiny cracks that started to form where the speakers are, however in the last 3 years, with regular cleaning and conditioning, they haven't gotten worse. F

    Mechanical
    - OE Exhaust mid-pipe installed at 176K
    - Differential Flush at 176K
    - New EHA Governor, Spark plugs, Plug wire ends, Distributor cap and rotor at 177k
    - New delrin lower shifter bushings 181k
    - PS gearbox replaced at 181k
    - Clutch engages smoothly, unknown age, but I see/feel no issues with it currently
    - Engine has cold start issue - When starting cold, need to give it some gas for it to start quickly, otherwise it will stumble to life after 10 - 15 seconds. When warm, idle is approximately 1000 RPM, stable. with AC compressor on, it drops to 900RPM, stable.
    - Idle does not hunt, it is smooth

    Suspension
    - Very tight, rides well, no extraneous clunks or squeaks
    - Rear SLS system refreshed in 2008 (153k) with new accumulators
    - New lower rear thrust arms 181k
    - New steering damper at 190k

    Electrical/Vacuum
    - All interior/exterior lights work
    - Sunroof works
    - Illuminated Sunroof switch installed
    - All door locks, trunk lock and gas cap lock work
    - AC converted to R134 and is fully functional
    - Power seats and seat memory works
    - All gauges work
    - New Hirschmann antenna and antenna grommet/seals installed 175k
    - Working fuel pump relay installed in September after the original one failed.
    - Clock does not work
    - Cracked lap timer (uncracked, working one is included with sale)
    - Drivers Rear window stopped working about 2 months ago, other 3 windows work
    - Drivers Front door lock has stopped unlocking with the key, I just use the trunk lock which controls all locks
    - Original head unit, works but can get a bit static-y sometimes.

    Misc
    - New Hood Pad
    - Evo I 16" Wheels installed
    - Original, excellent condition steering wheel and airbag included
    - 1 Mercedes-Benz OE Oil filters included
    - I have a lot of random parts that I will also include with sale.
    - 2 master keys, owners manual included

Man, I wish I had my M5 sold. I would certainly be interested and will be in staying in Painted Post, NY during the IMSA race @ Watkins Glen next week. Cool car!

                  Thanks for all the replies.

It really is a fun car, but with a newborn I wanted something safer/bigger and moved on to an E61 535xi. The stock intake/exhaust note is definitely intoxicating as your roll up on the cam to 6.8k redline.

Sorry for the CL ad link & pictures added.

No relation to Jalopnik, but wouldn't turn away a feature there!
