GW Winter Gathering - Photos & Writeup Inside

As a car enthusiast, there’s nothing like waking up early on your day off, cold starting your car, and gathering in a vacant lot to share your passion for cars with fellow admirers. The Garage Welt quarterly gatherings are an effort to unite all gear heads alike throughout California. Our team itself is a group of humble auto enthusiasts ranging from SoCal to NorCal. As our first organized Garage Welt event, we were quite surprised of the turnout. Although the quantity of cars was relatively low, the quality is what amazed us. Isn’t that what it’s all about? The crowd of people that showed up is exactly the kind of people we anticipated and hoped to attend, people who are invested into their cars in the same way that we are. Not only in the financial sense but as well as the emotional attachment that literally fuels our hand built mechanical monsters. That being said, the GW team thanks every single one of you for coming out.

We arrived to the spot Saturday morning in near darkness. As the sun advanced higher into the sky, the lot grew thicker. We definitely enjoyed the vast variety of BMW M cars, but as we have said before, all types of vehicles are welcome to our gatherings. Seeing the two E28s that have been adored by many people, together was an absolute honor. Austin, the owner of the Zinnoberrot 535is and Randy, the owner of the original M5 did not previously meet face-to-face before Garage Welt’s event. Creating that connection was truly a special moment for us. Branching out into California’s car culture and creating connections to one another is our primary objective.

The GW team traveled to SoCal the day before, where we enjoyed each other’s company while we anticipated the event we created. We could barely sleep, 2 hours and then we were awake and driving to the spot. We were so antsy that we even visited the lot the night before, planning out the positioning of cars and merchandise. After the professional stuff, it was time for some play. The Garage Welt team switched seats and tested each other’s cars as time flew by on our Friday night.

Our team hopes you had an amazing time and thank you for being a part of the community. SoCal’s car culture started to slow down as popular events have come to an end. We are ecstatic to contribute to this community in hopes of existing on a greater scale. Garage Welt is looking forward to the seeing you all at the second quarter gathering!
