325e to 325i

Can a 84' 325e exhaust be used on anew 89' 325i. Not a permanent thing just don't have the $600+ to get a new one shipped to me and I have a 325e exhaust at my disposal. I know the 325i staysafe a double from block to tip and the 325e merges to one after headers. But can it work or has anyone bothered to try. Just can't stand the exhaust leak front the flex pipe anymore.

Should work fine. You might not have as much top end and it might increase torque a bit.Make sure you can get the 3-wire oxy sensor out and that the threads are good as you will need the 4-wire sensor. The eta manifolds are smaller, but either should work. Who knows, you might like it.

Not only the above, but the Eta setup, being one pipe is cheaper to replace too.

Personally, I think the one pipe design looks cleaner. And a one pipe design even gets done on swaps, like this S54 swap done up here in Canada (sadly, the guy who built this system doesn't do it anymore.)

It makes safety sense if you have a bad leak but my money is on you finding a steep loss of power from a choked engine

You think it will choke the engine that much
