How to install late model rear shifter carrier on early model

I am swapping a zf trans into my 85 e30. I am using the m3 shifter carrier which works fine, but as you know with the early model shifter plates it does not have provisions for the 2 prongs in the rear shifter carrier.

What have you guys been doing to install the rear shifter carrier bushing in early model cars?

My 86 had the tabs and the hole for them even though it came with sheetmetal shifter.

Some guys have tried to use the G265 bracket, but unfortunately doesn't work.

If you don't have the provisions (tabs on top) you'll have to fab up something custom yourself.

You could do a DTM style shifter. Cut up your old sheet metal carrier and bolt the pivot in the shifter hole in the transmission tunnel. Would transmit a lot of vibration, though.

Not talking about the carrier hooking to the transmission. See my first picture, its the rear bushing.

my 260 trans has the ears and fits the regular shifter carrier. It doesn't have the 2 prongs on the transmission tunnel for the rear carrier BUSHING.
