          The 2002 had an optional dogleg 5 speed. So did e21 323s.

                dogleg make 2nd to 3rd easier... wouldnt mind having one.

                you think thats weird? i drove a tractor over the fall that had reverse in the uper left, first in the lower left, 4th in the upper middle, nothing in the lower middle, 2nd in the upper right, and 3rd in the lower right... notice that the tractor transmission was still race inspired.

                    I saw a 7-speed shift knob on a tour bus when I was in Mexico a few years ago.

                    I snapped a pic of the shift pattern, but I can't find it. :(
