Video of my surging power band, 3rd gear, wot.

This is my problem, it feels just like it looks there where the power comes in a rhythmic pattern?

    https://youtu.be/IsZfp9--JzQ">https://youtu.be/IsZfp9--JzQ" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350">

    I have done the following:

    Reman Bosch AFM
    Bosch O2 sensor
    Dist cap and rotor
    Fuel filter
    Fuel pressure regulator
Fuel psi runs between 35-40 and I'd like to see it higher
    Timing belt
    Water pump
    Fan clutch
Coil tests at 4.5 ohms, Bentley says 3.5 if I remember right
Plugs check ok but I'm getting new ones tomorrow.
Tps switch works for idle, I can't get wot signal out of it, I haven't ordered one yet.

There are a few more un related things I've done to the car

I'm getting frustrated, the engine runs better than it did when I got it but it still won't give me the I6 power I crave. I know it's not an i car but it's got to give smooth power.

    Any help is appreciated

I'm pretty sure an eta from 1987 doesn't have that connector.

            fix your fuel pressure issue.

Could be so many different issues:
                  CPS
                  fuel pump giving out
                  clogged fuel lines/injectors
                  bad TPS etc.

Best place to start is with a Bently manual, some wrenches, and a multimeter to check out the usual suspects. Pull your plugs and look at the coloration. Check fuel pressure with a gauge. It's going to take a little investigation

Well, the reman Bosch afm didn't help, new O2 sensor didn't help, new cps (the one on the front of the engine above the harmonic balancer) didn't help.

The eta pre 9/87 afm is different and Bentley doesn't have any info on it. When I try to ohm the sweep I get dead spots on my original and on the reman one. I've heard/read that this is common and I need to keep ordering new ones until I get a smooth one. Really?

I will get a couple feet of fuel line so I can drive around with the pressure gauge and see what I see.

My idle is really unstable when I cold start with the new afm. I'm going to put the old one back on and see what happens. Idle goes up and down over and over during initial warm up. When the engine is hot idle is good but tends to stall when I stop for a stop sign/red light. (Yeah, easy fix is to go faster and don't stop, I'm trying to get the thing to go faster....)

I will order a new tps soon. Idle signal is good but wot isn't but my wot driving isn't any worse than just easy going. The surging power happens no matter where my throttle position is.

Don't order a new TPS without testing it. It's not variable only a switch for wot.

There should not be dead spots in your afm. It has not been tested or refurbished if there are spots of disconnect. You can try bending the contact arms a little to contact a different part of the pad.
