    Front Valence Painting Advice

Im wanting to repaint my stock front valence on my 318is, but already ran into a question before starting. I was going to pick up some colour matched paint and begin, but realized the stock paint on the valence is textured and looks like it has a rockguard undercoat or something.
Anyone have any advice on repainting it? I feel like if i just go regular paint and clear, itll get rockchipped so fast. Any info will help

I will be painting a brand new, OEM BMW valance myself and will not coat it with the chip guard first. I feel they just look better glossy. I'm sure the textured coating would protect from stone chips better but, I prefer to risk it.

I wonder if there is a sprayable, clear glossy protectant film that would still be glossy but, offer a bit more protection than just basecoat/clearcoat.

i painted mine a long while back, with a spray on truck bed liner paint... three coats. looks great, stays clean, no chips.
unfortunately... its matte black. not too shiny.
i don't like the look of the black valance, rocker panels and the back end... being all black. would rather have the classic paint job all around... next car.
      oh well

3M Rocker Schutz is what you want to replicate the stock look. Do NOT use rubberized undercoating. It's totally different, much less durable, and looks different.

All that said, if you are just repainting your valence, the simplest thing to do is just scrub it and paint it. Paint sticks to the valences very well.

Ahh, you mean like leave the textured coating on and repaint over top. Yea that would probably be the easiest solution for now!
