Volkswagen Golf seats in an E30?

Would Volkswagen seats from a late '90's Golf bolt into our e30's?

Is it a straight swap or are there modificatiosn needed to be done?

    Thanks,

Most certainly modifications would have to be done.

I have golf gti seats in my vert now :D
They are the grey recaros from a 91 GTi. The rear seats are being recovered as we speak. I will post pics once finished. Custom brackets were made between the e30 base and sliders to the GTi seat mounts. They fit great and very supportive.

I believe the MKII seat rails are welded to the body, so the seat has to be modded to fit.

All above posts are correct. Buddy has my old GLI 16v grey Rec's in his E30. If you are talking real Recaros, it's a easy deal - the standard 6 bolt pattern on the base of the seat will just bolt onto a set of Recaro sliders, and then to any E30 seatbase bracket.

The more common VW seats would require cutting off the feet and welding the OEM BMW slider base to whatever is left from what you didn't chop off. Not difficult, just time consuming and you might get a funky seating position if you don't plan it out real well.

As a word of caution, don't be lazy - remove the entire seatback on the pivot points (seem to remember it was just a matter or 2 allen head bolts), and undo all foam and fabric from the seatbase. The little round rings are called "hog-rings" and you can buy new ones from an upholstry shop - a small price to pay once you see how fast a wirefeed welder spark melts through foam and out the other side burning your once - prized seat.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Stand Recaro Base that adapts to an E30 base with mods or get E30 Recaro sliders.

I have the exact same seats as addicted in my touring and they are awesome. I am moving them to my 318 and will probably get them recovered in mtech and alcantara
