AWII is a single stage paint.

Metallics are base/clear (bronzit, diamantschwarz, etc), but solids are single stage, two component (2K) paints.

That said, for a traditional look, single stage will look appropriate. Base/clear will be easier to keep a deep, crystalline look to it by virtue of having a clearcoat. If it were me, I would probably do a base/clear these days, because you don't have to deal with color oxidation / chalkiness.

I was sure alpinweiss 2 (218) has clear coat. But than I read some forums... :)

I could find 100% OEM info and paint software could not clarify it as well.
BMW says AW2 is "standard paintwork" but what is standard? People are arguing till now...

I am making my mind this Wednesday. I think I will go with clear. Not because of durability and stability. But rather because of possible future paint fixes.

It's simple...if it's not a Metallic then it was single stage from the factory. This doesn't mean a clear couldn't be added later thru the dealer, etc.
