I have no cat but I do have a muffler in the center section so that makes up for it.

I don't have cats on my car, and I have a Bosal muffler (with holes) which will soon be replaced with a Stromung muffler. Loud is a relative term, but it doesn't really bother me. I am use to V-8's with Flowmasters.

the only downside i saw after removing the cats from my 325i with the IE stainless catback, was the rasp.

but i recently found out that companies make rasp eliminators now.

Maybe I understood you wrong but if you bought an IE catback you still have the stock cat.

              Yes, thus the term "cat-back".

But when I had it installed, I removed the cats to get more sound out of the system, which it did. But with the addition of rasp. E46 M3 rasp. It's not bad sounding, it's different, but I prefer a deeper, cleaner sound.

                Ah, gotcha.

You could always add a center muffler of resonator.

yeah, that would be the way to go. maybe in place of the cat, use the rasp eliminators. they look like glasspacks from what ive seen.

I've got no cat - merged to a single 2.5 right after the downtubes, and a magnaflow resonator where the cat used to be... all back out to a magnaflow muff.

It's pretty loud - I have no problem being heard when I want to, but it's really not that bad putting around town.

It also doesn't have much rasp, at least not the e46 kind :p

How can I quiet down my exhaust alittle bit? I have a single 3 inch from the downpipes to a magnaflow cat and magnaflow turbo xl. Will a resonator quiet it down a bit or should i just get a different muffler.

If you're only wanting it a bit quieter just add a resonator or cherry bomb to the center section if there's room. Pep Boys actually has a large selection of cherry bomb mufflers and they're cheap too.

what do you guys with no cats do about emmissions tests? do you just go to a private shop and pay the guy off to give you a "Pass" sticker? in NJ ure gonna fail without a cat im almost positive.

With clean oil and your EGR connected any reasonably maintained M20 will pass most emissions tests without a cat! However you may fail the visual inspection if they do one. I'm in Vancouver and the air scare tests are probably a bit different here but I hope this is still of some use.
