For the past 3 months, my car has had some horrible squeaking. Even with the car standing still, if I turn the steering wheel, it squeaks. Drive on any road irregularity. It squeaks very bad.
So, basically, I decided this morning, despite the very hot weather, to give the M3 a little TLC. First, I removed the front urethane swaybar bushings and as expected, they were dry. So, just as the service note at dealership says, I applied a layer of teflon tape on the swaybar and some synthetic grease on the bushing. Put everything back together and most of the annoying squeaking was gone. Most but not all. Then I removed the urethane control arm bushing and lolipop. Sure thing, they were dry too. So, a thick coat of grease and back on the car. Both sides. Went for a ride. And damn. It feels smooth and quiet like a 1970's Cadillac. Perhaps tomorrow, I will service the rear swaybar bushings.
All'n'all, it took one hour, and it is the annual service I forgot to do for the past 5 years...
