How long did your 24v swap take?

If this has been done before then oops, but just wondering how long it took everyone to do their 24v swap?

Just so everyone is working off the same time line,
I'll define starting the swap as when you bought the engine to install (or if you had it already when you had all/most of the additional parts/accessories needed to get it installed)
And we'll define a finished swap as, you were able to start the engine and drive the car down the road. Not necessarily registered and street legal but able to move under its own power... exhaust is not a requirement ;)

Took about a year to collect all parts and 2 months to swap in. Because broke. If I had money it would have been a few weeks

Mine took about 6 weeks or so for parts collection and planning and two days in the shop from m20 out to driving.

It took me about 6 weeks from the time I got the motor in the car to have it running. That's with only being able to work on in a couple hours a night. I've got a couple little kiddoes that reduce my free time.

It took a few good spins at the casino. Bought it within two weeks.

Mine took about 6 months but I also only got to work on Saturdays and it was a huge learning experience. Being well prepared with all the parts needed, I bet I could do it in a long weekend now.

Me personally months but a buddy of mine (Unloadedak) did his in a weekend. But this is all because he planned and knew what he was doing. You could do it in a couple weeks if you know you're way around these cars and most of all PLAN IT OUT. Read rverything make sure you have all the parts and a Buddy. Planning, money and reading is your distinguisher of time

4 weekends, 8 days total. That includes totally refreshing the rear subframe/rtab bushings, diff, etc and also replacing/refreshing everything in terms of shifter/driveshaft, a/c components, brake booster delete, etc. Lots of little things.

Planning ahead will save you lots of time and headaches. And money! I think I spent at least as much time researching, making spreadsheets and anticipating problems then I did actually doing the swap.

2 days and 3 six packs of beer, it's easy if everything is prepped and ready to go. The time waisting comes when you run into little hang ups or you don't have the right tools for something. If you know what your doing 1 day 12-18 hours plus what ever exhaust you try and fab

Wayyyyyy too long at 4 to 5 year mark.

I did however get married and had a son and daughter along the way. The E30 got pushed down the priority chain.

5 years as am not a mechanic working by myself with no help from anyone in a parking place that does not allow any work. 2 hrs here and there at 3am when everything is dark and everyone asleep. mosquitos and a flash light in my mouth..

I will take back the help part because R3V helped a lot. Making questions like "am guys please help, How does the belt tensioner go on" lol
