    [E31] 1994 840i SOLD!

    SOLD

I'm selling my 1994 840i Serial CC89098. I have it on CL, but I would like to sell here or Bimmerforums (where it's already posted) since both communities have helped me tremendously on my 1991 318i (that I bought off a member on BF.com!) and I'd prefer it go to someone that will actually try to bring it back to it's former glory and won't try to put 22" wheels on it. I apologize about the picture quality, I don't have a better camera immediately available to me.

Backstory: I rescued this car from the driveway of a man who bought it for his son. His son had it horribly repainted in Matte Silver with a Black gloss roof, put two hundred miles on it, then parked it for 2.5 years. The engine is a replacement from a 1995 540i which the seller told me has 20k less than the chassis, but is unverified. I had it towed to my house on a flatbed; new batteries, fresh oil and gas, and she started up easily. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to give her the attention I want to.

In the interest of an honest ad, here are the details:

    $3000 FIRM

    The Bad:
    AC not working
    Tilt/telescope works intermittently
Headlight adjusters need to be rebuilt to be adjusted to where they need to be (functional, but aimed too low)
Forward/backward on power driver seat is reversed (forward to adjust rearward, and vice versa) otherwise working properly
Paint is a poor repaint in a matte finish
Hood is slightly off and rubs on the passenger side wiper arm when opening, but closes properly (may be related to the re-paint)
Taillights have been tinted but work properly
Pixels on the check panel are mostly out, some screens are legible, others not so much, but it does work properly
Needs thrust arms (55 mph shimmy, covered by TIMM's guide)
Suspension makes some noise, will need bushings at some point in the future
Wheels are s*** (As far as I can tell, they are real Type 5 Beyern Wheels, pictures I've acquired from the 8 Series Registry show Beyern Center Caps that are no longer on the car), but don't lie, you are going to replace them with M-Pars anyway
CD Changer was not equipped from factory, retrofitted from another 840ci. The changer works, but keeps reporting Disc Error.
Weather stripping is somewhat deteriorated on the drivers rear window peak area.
Sunroof lining gone but the sunroof operates properly
    Parcel Shelf lining is loose
    A-Pillar lining is loose
Small cracks in some of the vent register surrounds
Temp gauge works, but I think the ground wire is loose as it sometimes will fall back to 0 on decel/bumps, a light tap on the dash brings it back to normal, but I haven't investigated further.
Engine cover is missing and there are some minor cracks in some of the connector shields (all are holding fine though)
    Missing the lower front valance/spoiler

    The Good:
Registered in the 8 Series Registry (8coupe.com) with some pictures, background from 2007. I have the VBS data sheets I'll obviously include with the car
It runs beautifully, shifts well, and is smogged and registered.
Interior is not perfect, but very serviceable with minor needs to make it good
Mileage is somewhat low at 134,800 I've had it since 133,800 or so.
    Runs at the correct temp
    Mostly mechanically sound
Clean carfax with no accidents reported
Body is straight with only two minor dings on the passenger side
    New windshield
New Key works and is programmed. Three keys included, two with buttons, one normal key.
    No check panel messages
    Original stereo with code
    All Windows, sunroof work
    Headliner appears to be OK
All paperwork for work I've personally done or had done at a shop
Radiator is a Behr replacement and reservoir is the all black updated unit and hoses look good, but are of unknown age.
    No Battery Drain
    Alarm is working properly

    Repairs/maintenance I've done since I've owned it:
Cooling system wasn't bled properly, so I had to add to it and re-bleed. Holds the level OK now. Coolant is of unknown age but appears to be BMW blue coolant
    Oil filter housing mounts
Oil change at 134,100 or so with Mobil 1 Full Synth + filter
Purchased but have not installed the two missing jack pads and I'm including the one rocker jack pad adapter I have (solid steel)
Two new matched AC Delco Batteries
    Rebuilt the headlight harnesses
Fixed a return line fuel leak at the tank
Both O2 sensors have been replaced by my local BMW indy
Re-fitted a 6 cd changer from another 840ci, see above
Fixed the door mechanism that allowed you to open the door when locked, it all works properly now.
Replaced the mirror switch, both exterior mirrors now work properly
In the process of fixing the locking issue, the door cards have been refitted with all new trim clips
Fitted a new windshield, put the rearview mirror back on.

That's to the best of my knowledge, feel free to ask any questions.
