    M50NV Hot Stall Problem

    I have a M50NV installed in my 91 e30. I've covered about 8k miles without problems...until yesterday.

I was driving at freeway speeds and floored it in 5th to overtake. The engine stumbles and the engine shut off. All the lights came on the dash and I coasted to the shoulder. It cranked but wouldn't start. I started checking and everything looked good. After about 10 min I disconnected the battery and the car restarted. I drove 3 miles up the road and this time it stalled with only a little throttle. I disconnected battery again but no luck. After 15 min I called a tow truck. The truck dropped the e30 off at Auto Heaven and it started right up. This morning the car is idled for an hour with no problems.

Any one have something like this? I've read it could be main relay or fuel pump.

    Thanks.

Check your idle valve, I just struggled with the same scenario for a few weeks on my girlfreinds NV motor. Runs fine then all of a sudden runs like crap, stalls out, misfires randomly. It didn't help that we got a few "known good" idle valves that ended up being the wrong part number. NV motors use a special idle valve.

The stalling issue was resolved with a Walbro fuel pump. Next issue, my Engine Coolant Temp sensor is reading -46 degrees. The shop confirmed the same after swapping 2 ECUs.

Has anyone heard of this problem before? Can it be the sensor of wiring?

      Thanks.
