    How rare is this car?

I have a chance to buy a Gletscherblau, 1991 318iC. Heated seats, blue cloth interior, 5 speed, 149k. Plastic bumpered car. Needs a new top and interior rebuild, but pretty straight and no rust that I can see without a lift. I almost never see any e30 this color. What are they worth?

Glacier Blue isn't rare. Nice that it's a 5 spd though, most cabrios are autos.

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

At the E30 Picnic where there are 200 E30s, there might be 4 or 5 that color.

If it needs an interior, it might be worth $3k. Though yea, it's what someone thinks it's worth. Cabrios in general are not on an upswing like E30 m3s are.

M42 cabs were all 5sp. Realoem FTW.

To my knowledge all E30 M42 are 5 speed

This is true, in the states at least.

That's what I thought but I wasn't completely sure on that one. I just know the 'verts 'cause I have one.

According to e30 vert enthusiast Keith Turner:
                          318iC E30 (M42/B18 ) VIN code BA73 years 1991-2: 4,069 total units produced. Probably one of the rarer non-M3 e30 models.

                          Let's say on average 5% of U.S. e30's were Gletscherblau.. that'd be roughly 204 318ic's. Pretty rare!

Pretty rare, but not necessarily any more valuable than any other color/year vert. It's worth whatever it is to you.

You should pick it up. The thought of cloth heated seats seems amazing to me...
