I have the original 3.73 LSD that i'd pulled from my '88 325is way back in Feb 2002 at the 153,747 mile mark, with Redline 75w-90 LSD fluid inside. There was nothing wrong with it, i'd upgraded to a 4.10 M3 diff then stashed the 3.73 away. So it's been in storage for over 15 years.

$350 picked up in the LAX area.

Oh man, i wish you would have mentioned needing a Transmission when you were buying my Diff ha ha.

I still have the original 5-speed that i pulled from my '89 325is way back in 2001 after the car got totalled-out (at the 138,927 mile mark), so it's been in storage for 16 years. It was sitting right next to your Diff when i dug it out last week.

The transmission should be in good shape, i don't recall any shifting issues or leaks or i would have noted it in the car's log book (i'm a details freak LOL).
