Shift New Shift Knob full Of Excess Rubber Is this Normal

ok I'll try to make short ..I bought a whole lot of parts to do the timing belt and valves so i decided to order a shift knob for the 1988 325iC but this one looks kind of weird.If you look at the pics there excess rubber flowing inside.would this be normal or did the company that made it f**k up....do i just remove it or should i return it.....that stuff is not grease it feels like rubber and easy to remove..

Yeah, that is really weird. Mine looks like this, no excess rubber at all.
