    Pm me details please.

Though I'm still liking the idea of doing it mostly myself :)

IF you decide to DIY it to some degree, make sure you read up on the rules for where you plan to compete or participate in and make sure you are in compliance. thats my .02 I didnt feel comfortable welding something really important in my car and knowing it came from an E30 built from a reputable cage builder.

So Ive been doing some research on why my daily bitch decided to not start yesterday and it seems that the new MBs use an electronic ignition switch along with an electronic steering lock and if all is good, then the car will start with the proper key. Sadly the ESL and EIS are both known to fail and mine has apparently failed. Typical cost is well over $1000, some having to pay $2500 from the stealership. I have a connection with a Benz tech whos shop is also certified as a Benz locksmith because otherwise I would be paying $180/hr to get this fixed compared with their $130/hr. This is because its considered a "dealer-only" repair. Its still going to take a few days to do it and its still not going to be cheap. The other good news is that these cars typically have 2 problems and this is the second one I will be dealing with. So I should be good from here .... right?? Luckily the E30 is running great and will have to take over daily duties in the mean time.

Hopefully I wont run into any DBs in new cars who will force me to embarass them

Common problem for sure on 204s. A lot of those come through my shop and all I can do is tell them where the nearest dealershit is, because MB won't even sell me the part. Another common problem on your car is the conductor plate taking a dump, some of those are dealer only fixes too. :hitler: They didn't use to be, but now they're telling me that the ignition system is connected to the conductor plate, therefore making a dealer fix only.

It's your duty to embarras any v6 camaro, vaping, snap back wearing douche bag that comes your way. It will feel soooooooooo good.

After dding a loud e30 again, I get a lot of people trying to egg me on into street races lol, but I never partake due to the fact that a honda odyssy would give me a run for my money

Charlie, I'll text you about the 4-point cage. My boss suggests he could do it in a day for a good price (well under $1500).

Just so everyone knows, the price is reflective of the experience/skill/talent of the fabricators. Yes you can do it yourself, but in the same regard, you could build a house yourself.

It's going to be a wild week, the E30 is so much more fun to drive. We'll see how much I hate the 204 after this repair.

Why not just get them new from Abrahams? They sell it with all the hardware you'd want too

How much is it on Abrahams? I know it's $400 after shipping on ECS and a bit more on CATuned.

Looks like $340, but send him a message here and see if he has a deal going. His shipping is super quick and I doubt its going to cost $60

Or just give the part numbers to BMA and pick them up.

Will BMA have it? I'll definitely buy it from them if they have it.
