    Turning on without engine loom

So I'm in the process of a head swap on my '86 eta and while it's all bare I'm doing a couple other maintenance items, one of which is to remove my squeaky, loud, rusty, awful blower motor and putting in one that is certainly not new but spins freely and seems generally less worn.

That said, after successfully installing it I am now becoming increasingly nervous that I will finish the swap, effectively making the motor inaccessible only to find out it doesn't work or I did something wrong...wouldn't be the first time things don't go as planned the first time.

So my question is this: I have the engine loom completely removed, so nothing is connected to the starter, alternator, etc; if I hook the battery back up, is it safe to turn the key to check power on the blower motor (and 13 button OBC when I get to that too)? I don't want to blow anything up but I believe everything potentially harmful *should* be disconnected.
