I'll swear I can smell the paint. Now the fun starts. Keep the pictures rolling.

Original door lockbox screws (Phillips head) have been superseded by star bit with whatever finish bmw is using now. It's probably more effective, but it's not original and doesn't look as good.

Thankfully, it isn't immune to a strong dose of muriatic acid. Stripped to bare metal and replated.

New on the left, replated on the right

You know you've reached a new level of ocd when you are stripping and re-plating new parts :P

This is something really incredibly beautiful.

Enjoy every moment what you spend with your car. Day by day you will see the work of your hands. My M3's restoration took seven years, they were the most memorable moments of my life.

Indeed. Nevermind searching the web for hours to find a picture of that fuse box logo.

Thanks! I've been following your build as well. It is very inspirational. Seven years is quite a long time! I'm sure much of it was spent acquiring parts - and its good you started that long ago because you have some beautiful pieces in your parts bin that are no longer available. Looking forward to seeing your progress as well.

                        Great build!

Do you know the part number of the black part the covers the "silver colored metal part" that holds the wiring? Im missing this on my car and I am trying to track down a replacement.

I think it's under the same part number as the engine wiring harness, which unfortunately means it's NLA. I'll look again when I get home and see if it has a separate PN printed on it

                            2.5 Years In... M3 Build Thread...PAINT COMPLETE!

Found my second roundel in the U.K. Here's hoping both are in acceptable shape. The one from the Netherlands should be arriving any day now

Also, windows are looking great with new paint on the trim

                            And sunroof reconstruction has started

And insulation is going back in

Need one more hold down in the top left
