    Is it worth it?

    Hey everyone! I've owned BMWs many times before but I'm looking at something new to me. So heres the low down - I sold my 1986 E30 325es late last year, and have wanted another E30 ever sense. I'm at the point where I'm looking to buy a daily driver while I do some car builds, and I came upon this 1991 E30 318i Touring. I've always loved tourings and have been known to get the "more rare" kinds of cars :D. My question to you is - is it worth what he's asking? I'm going to look at this Touring this weekend. I've been talking with him and he said he'd negotiate a lower price, but I'm not sure if this is even in the ballpark value range. There's not too many sales to base it off of here in the US. Thanks for the help!

        If the price is fair really depends on the amount of work that has been done stateside or can be documented in Europe. For instance, if you have to spend 2k right away on maintenance it's worth 7, if not, 9+ seems reasonable if rust is limited.

        Importing a car costs under 2k to the East coast from Europe, there is also the risk that the importer took on a potential lemon. Neither of these seems to translate to much added value in the eyes of buyers when it comes to selling a touring stateside for some reason.

        A 318is touring also does not exist, so it speaks to the type of seller you are dealing with.

          Price seems a little high for M40 and no A/C, but I agree that rust is a differentiator. Rust free tourings are almost unicorns in the USA.

            most of the cost for a touring comes from the import process. The rest comes from what kind of shape it's in. Motor/options take a back seat

              Well, it was worth it! I got back late last night from the 14 hour round trip to Florida, and I came back with the car!! There is 0 rust on the car whatsoever, a good amount of documentation, regular maintenance done, and it was just so nice! The paints probably an 8/10 and the interiors a 9/10. Oh how I'm glad to be back in the Bimmer game :D
