Dash lamps and accessory lamps not working? Headlights still working? You might have a bad dimmer switch.
If the dimmer stopped working, there is no need to wire a jumper between pins 2 and 6 which would bypass the dimmer function. Do it right, find the discontinuity and repair the switch. Most likely there is a break in the coil somewhere, so if you can't see it, break out your multi-meter and find it.
To remove the switch follow the directions at this link:
Once its out, follow the below method to disassemble and solder it. My switch looked a little bit different (didn't have the little barbells), but it comes apart the same way.
