Has anyone ever used Cadillac CTS gears in a BMW case?

In '03/'04ish the Caddy CTS used the Getrag 260, but with a ratio set that included a 3.57 first gear. This is a lot better for higher powered engines than the 3.82 BMW gear. These transmissions are pretty rare. I bought one, but since I'm in Afghanistan, I won't be able to play with it for a while.

Has anyone put Caddy guts in a BMW case?

Not sure how I missed the reply...

Why would it be wrong to put Cadillac parts in a BMW? ;)

      They're still made by Getrag.

I don't think your Granddad ever drove a stick shift CTS.

I don't think so, either. Park Avenue for one, Delta 88 for the other.

I don't see many cts' in the yank-a-part, but I'll keep an eye out.

              '03-'04 CTS manual trans.

I have one... just need to build the Franken260 with 24V bellhousing, iX rear housing and Cadillac gears.

Thanks- now I have to troll the GM section, too, huh?

So it's a different 1st and counter gear, then...

I assume so, but haven't looked up part numbers. There are differences in the 5th gear ratios that I see quoted on the net as well, so I may be able to put together a taller 5th too.

with a regular g260 a 3.46/3.64 would be closer to the money and be a better cruiser
Close ratio 260? Wasn't aware of such a thing.
The ratios you mention sound like an M3 G265.

GDMF. Now I have another Euro part to lust after. And I thought the Caddy gearbox was a good find.

Per E30zone the TNN code is the close ratio box.

Feh... so now I need to find a Sport G260 for it's 1st/2nd and use the Caddy 5th.
