I'm having an issue with my cluster. The car sat for 5 years and was recently brought backg to running condition. All gauges work fine except the speedometer and odometer. The odometer doesn't even move which I assume are bad plastic gears, but the speedometer is funky. When I'm stopped or driving it always reads something crazy like 140mph yet when I tap the brakes it goes down to 125mph. I read that a bad ground usually affects more than one gauge. I'm wondering if anyone has had success with just tightening the ground? If so, I'll order the odometer gears and tighten the ground, fixing the cluster my self. Or, if no one has had success fixing just one gauge by tightening the ground, I should send it in for solder work repair?
