Quiet Exhaust for my S52 swap? Give me ideas

Ok guys, I have a blank slate here. Just finished my S52 swap, using obd2 headers.

I am looking for a quiet exhuast. i dont want it non existent, but dang, i dont know if im getting old, but I just want a quieter exhaust.

I am not using a cat either, so ill probably need a res in there.

I will be making it custom, so i dont need any prefabbed exhaust units. Pretty much looking for a quiet res and muffler combo. Keeping 2.5" tube.

    Thanks!

hahaha - I'm in the same boat.

S50 swap my current setup, headers, hi-flow cat, resonator and Vibrant muffler = too loud for my this old man. I sue my car as a daily with kids. I'm not single and trying to impress the ladies :)

I ended up going with a vibrant ultra quiet res, and a magnaflow muffler. Its pretty quiet. I would say a little louder than stock but not much

Borla ProXS in lieu of middle resonator should quiet it down more. Kind of wish I went that route instead of vibrant resonator/muffler, because I too find it a little excessive (This is 3", 2.5" might be a little less)

The Vibrant resonator I have hits bumps on the road. I'm not liking the clearance.

Which Magnaflow muffler? any issues with clearance with the resonator?

I used a Magnaflow 12280 with the vibrant ultra quiet res. the car is pretty much stock sounding.

I tried tucking the res as close up to the exhaust shield as I could without it rattling. I only hit it slightly coming off the 4 post lift, but the ramps are pretty steep.

I have not run into any scraping or clearance issues on the street. and that is with going up my driveway which has a roll up curb.

Thank you ^^ I'm going to talk to an exhaust shop to see what options I have.

FYI, having used the big Magnaflow mufflers before, I always found that they would have some significant drone zone, even if they were otherwise OK.

I'm not a fan of the drone zone... I'm old and it's my daily. Dynomax looks like it's going to be the winner.

                    - Headers/hi-flow cat/Dynamax Muffler 1778- (removing resonator)= hopefully a stockish sound with no drone.

It's still going to be a little louder than stock. But I think that you'll be fairly happy.

If you need stock quiet, it's possible to modify a stock E36 M3 muffler to fit in there. (With some work - you have to cut off at least one side of the crimp off and weld the muffler back together. Yes, I've done that too.)

yeah just so heavy with the stock 36 muffler. I can tell you with the res and magnaflow muffler i have no drone. it is super quiet, i dont even hear it when cruising. and barely hear it while getting on it.
