M52 crank in M20, main bearings business

    TIS for M52:

    engine block side:
"When the bearing shells or the crankshaft are replaced, the
classification for bearing shell arrangement in the engine block is
eliminated. Only install yellow bearing shells in the engine block"

    bearing cup side:
"The bearing shell classification for the bearing cover is marked on
the crankshaft in yellow, green or white paint.
Place main bearing shells with same color code as that of
    crankshaft in main bearing caps
    ."

Would this apply for M52 crank in M20 block? My M52 crank has two journals market green with the rest being yellow.

anyone used different bearings on the same journal? Looks like that's what TIS is prescribing.

Sure- if the journal measures .0005" small, it's pretty standard to use one nominal and 1 .001
under. Happens when you polish a standard crank, sometimes...

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

Just want to make sure I get correct parts:

        My Mains:
        1. 2.3616
        2. 2.3615
        3. 2.3615
        4. 2.3614
        5. 2.3616
        6. 2.3614
        7. 2.3613

I need to order all yellow bearings for the block side.
Cap side will be as follows:
        1. yellow
        2.green.
        3.green
        4.green
        5.yellow
        6.green
        7.green

Am I going in the right direction with this?

Am I looking into this too much....??
Found some specs for Kolbenschmidt bearing set 87369600, STD size, .

Based on these specs and sizes of my M52 crank main journals:

          2.3616'' (59.985mm) journal - radial clearance of 0.0007" (0.019mm)
          2.3613" (59.977mm) journal - clearance of 0.0011" (0.027mm)

Looks like KS bearing kit will work ok?

KS recommended radial clearance for mains based on KS specs (why min is smaller than Bentley's min of 0.020mm???):

min: 0.014mm and max: 0.033mm (with 65mm bore)
min: 0.033mm and max 0.052mm (with 65.019mm bore)

          KS specs:
          material St/A
          Bearing width 20.00 mm
          wall thickness 2.498 mm
          Min. shaft diameter 59.971 mm
          Max. shaft diameter 59.990 mm
          min. Housing bore 65.000 mm
          max. Housing bore 65.019 mm
Distance crank web from 25.020 mm
Distance crank web to 25.053 mm
          Axial play from 0.080 mm
          Axial play to 0.163 mm

what do you guys think? Should I go with KS set and not worry about OEM green? Any thoughts why KS specs smaller oil clearance compared to OEM?
