Sonic cleaning will also ensure a perfectly clean head. Improves cooling by getting all the scalies off the cooling passages. You cant magnaflux a aluminum head due to it being non ferrous but you can have them dye it and look for cracks or pressure test.
So how would this thing run if I put it back together ? Would it vibrate a lot, be loud or else ?
I was hoping to just junk the head I have on the car and install something fresh....now looks like maybe I should remove the head from my car and have it checked / cleaned. This engine will eventually be removed to make room for something else so buying expensive / rare cams etc isn't an option .
You have to keep in mind that here sometimes we do not have access to parts, so...
Here in Chile machine shops will bore those holes and install thicker bearings, or else, bore the hole and insert a sleeve to accomodate stock bearings, but you will have to resurface your camshaft also, those grooves are too much, I don't know if the total bill for repairing the head plus the camshaft and the new bearings will be less than a used fully assembled head (in good condition), you have to do your adding up and see what's best for you, but since so many people are swapping their engines i think you could find a reasonably priced head (with camshafts) somewhere.
Everything can be repaired, but sometimes it's too expensive.
