Is this a standard feature with power windows?

Have an e30 4 door with electric windows.
The car has been stripped down to a shell and put back together and I was testing out the power windows.

    - They work with the key in the ignition turned to accessory's which is normal operation.

    - When you open the door with the key OUT of the ignition they still work.
once you close the door the light on the switches goes out and they stop working.. this I think is still normal

    this is what throws me..

you can open the doors back up after you've just closed them and the switches light back up and the windows switches are fed power again. It seems the door light switch is triggering the power window relay. Don't need the keys back in the ignition to work the windows again..That normal? been 4 years since I've had this car powered up again and I cant remember.

The car is equipped with a Comfort Relay. My Euro 323i has it as well.

Yeah, US cars didn't get this option.
