    e34 throttle cable part number?

    Almost finished!
I don't know how I didn't end up with this in my order already, but does anyone know the right part number for the e34 throttle cable that works with this swap. e36, 96, 328is motor in an e30, 89, 325is.

I ask because there are a lot of different models / years for the e34 and from what I can see on pelicanparts and bimmerspecialist there are multiple choices and part numbers... arg.

    Thanks,
    - D

    35 41 1 160 609 is what I used.
I modded it for some cable slack by shaving the fat rubber adjuster holder/grommet.

      35 41 1 160 609 = Accelerator Cable, 525i Sedan/Touring (With M50 Engine)(1991-95) = $33.50

      35-41-1-155-958 = Accelerator Cable, 535i (1989-92) = $11.50

Can anyone verify that the cheap one will or will not work?

      Thanks,
      Dillon

think about it... you want a throttle cable from an m50... what engine did a 89-92 535 have?

318is one works also, if that's easier to find.

The E36 325iS cable is identical to the 5er M50 cable. I have both.

The part # I provided has a nice kink in it to ride over the booster. which is why I used it.

Is it really 100% necessary to use the e34 throttle cable? I thought some people had managed to use the e30 one.

                    e30 throttle cable works perfect.

                      No.
BMW cables have provisions to anchor the sleeve and to anchor the actual cable to match the hard points on the throttlebody.
As long as you can adjust the cable for a little slack between the sleeve anchor on the TB and the cable anchor (pull part), you're golden.

It's nice to use a new cable as it lowers your effort on the accelerator and won't tend to bind.
I had a lightened flywheel/ old throttle cable on my M3 but it was a bitch to match revs as the engine did not rev up fast enough.
Same flywheel/ new throttle cable and it revs up faster.

Thats good to know as I have a e36 parts car. They have different part numbers, so is it like a bracket that makes them different? They cant be identical.

In swap literature, you can use iether the E34 or E36. and some guys are using E30.

My E34 cable has a black plastic firewall lock, and the E36 cable has a blue plastic firewall lock. + different part#.
Otherwise they are of the same length.(which does not matter) and going on the same engine as long has you get the e34M50 cable.

bump to an ancient thread..... since there are so many cables in questions, I just wanted to get a solid answer before I place the wrong order.

From what I read, the best throttle cable is from a 90-92 525i with a m50. That would be p/n: 35411160609, right?
