The bellow is sealed so will expand at higher elevation which pushes up on the copper frame which has a contact (the tab above the 2 rivets to the right) that slides along a linear rheostat (the black stripe) that will lean out your mixture as the altitude increases (less fuel+less oxygen=balanced mixture).

If your isnt working you are getting sea level fuel quantities with mile high air

ok so when i tap on the altitude compensator it changes the idle a bit. is there any way to actually test it?

another note..the fuel pump was changed cuz i got it for free. but the fuel injectors are spraying out a straight stream and that was trying on two set of injectors..

and also when i pull the wire from the injector nothing happens i can do it to 2 and still nothing.. what can be causeing this? can it be the small computer module in the glovebox?? any help is greatly appreciated I ABOUT TO START THIS THING ON FIRE!!!

The injectors should "mist" and if disconnecting an injector (or 2) does nothing than it is certainly malfunctioning so you need to replace them ASAP.

As for testing the altitude compensator check Bentley or search. Moving it will effect your idle so that doesnt mean its not doing its job. Maybe your bellow is ruptured (sounds painful I know) so it still thinks its at sea level or the metal frame is bent (mine was after I snagged my sleeve on it).

First swap out those injectors and let us know.

If you can disconnect an injector with a running engine and nothing changes, you have a dead cylinder. If there is fuel and spark check your compression or could be an electrical connection regarding your injectors.

No. It may not be adjusted right but if moving it makes a change then its working.

i have already checked the compression its all fine except cyl. 4 is like 5 lower then the others. like i said the fuel injectors are basically pissing not spraying out a cone how they should.

eh im so lost on this car....i think im going to a MK4 jetta >.< shoot me now

Buy a spare fuse box at the same time you buy the MK4, you will be needing it. And if you can't diagnose a m10, then have fun with the VW :P

ive actually had a vw before the bmw and i expected it to not be as much as this. its literally gotten a new timing chain, new head gasket, intake gaskets. new plugs. wires. o2 sensor, have tried 2 sets of injectors. a new fuel pump, new FPR, valve clearance was checked fixed the 2 stripped valve adjusting nuts, new vacuum hoses in the spots it needed, new oil pan gasket (upper&lower) new Air flow meter, new coolant temp sensors,...seriously ive done alot and it still wont fire right tried it with working ICV and deleted the icv and ts still doing the same
