    Resonators?

Well, after about 4500rpm I was sick of hitting that wall of choked exhaust where the car would totally stop pulling, i decided to get rid of that stock eta 1 7/8". I plan on turboing the car in the next couple of months, so i picked out a magnaflow muffler, 2.5" dual in/dual out and 2 2.5" magnaflow cats.

I just had it put on the other day and I like that fact that sounds good when it idles and totally freed up a ton of power. Before the car ran a 15.3 1/4mi with the old exhaust and I hoping next friday, or tomorrow night if the track is open, to run it again and see how much it improved.

The biggest thing I don't like about this setup is that its to loud. Kinda sounds like a ricer when i'm on it and its loud, and sometimes sound raspy :? I want to quiet the damn thing down, so I'm thinking resonators? What do you guys think? Is there a good manufacter for resonators or do you think that some generic ones might work?
I know that my turbo will quiet this thing down, but there is no way I'll drive this noise box for a few months, aint happening

decent resonators can be had for 40-50 bucks, or you add a glasspack to the mid section of your exhaust they run cheap like 15-20 bucks.

Magnaflow makes resonators. Or you can just add another muffler inline somewhere in the system.

but mufflers that arent straight through really cuts down the flow of your exhaust system.

As said above add a glasspack. I guarantee you'll come out with the sound you want. If you add a resonator, you will most likely end up with an even more raspy and less bass like tone. add a glasspack in the middle section of the exhaust, you won't regret it.

I thought it would be the exact opposite, if I add a glasspack it will make more noise and sound even more like a ricer? But your saying add a glasspack?

            Edit:

Trust me, the glasspack will do exactly what you want it to. I had my exhaust made headers straight to a muffler in the back, sounded terrible. I added a glasspack in the center, quieted it down [obviously it's still loud with no cats] but it gave it the perfect tone I was looking for and took away the nasty raspy sound I had going on.

I guess I'll hunt some down, put em' on see what it does. If I don't like the tone that it produces, then I'll put this system up for sale. Thanks! I'll let you guys know what the final outcome is.

But just go to a Kragen or Auto Zone or whatever and buy 2, they should be about $25 each

Mr 325 i am guessing that you have an i but I have an e and I am about ready to redo my exhaust and I am looking for more opinions single 2.5" or 3" header back or dual 2" exhaust header back with an H pipe is what I am debating, what to do, what to do, opinions encouraged.

I'm going to check checker and autozone after work and see what they got.

As for the ones on ebay, hopefully I can pick them up abit cheaper.

Single 2.5" would be great on an eta.

PLease keep this thread posted if you go the glasspack route. I just had a DEC cat and Magnaflow dual-in/dual-out put on my IS...rumbly at idle, sweet at hard acceleration or above 2600 rpm, LOUD AS FUCK in daily driving from 1500-2500rpm. I took it back and they put a new resonator they'd just sawed off an E46 or something, and now it's only LOUD AS FUCK after it gets warmed up.

Is a glasspack slim enough to fit in front of the cat? THe DEC's very small and sits all the way at the back of where the stock cat used to be.

LOL, if you did resonators and it got worse, then I for sure will be using glasspacks. Thanks ;) I'll keep you posted.
