Went out to spectate the Collingrove hillclimb today.
The hill climb is owned and operated by the Sporting Car Club of South Australia and is located in the Barossa Valley.
The track itself is a 685m of asphalt, climbing 70m through tight undulating landscape and rolling hills. Fastest time of day was a new outright record of 27.25 seconds.
Turn 2. I've been told they call this "the wall" and the banking is so steep it almost feels like you're going to barrel roll.
View of the upper section and an EG Civic which was relatively quick for what it is.
This Beetle was loose as. Sideways the whole way and still incredibly quick.
This E30 had a built Mazda 13B turbo in it, which makes ~500hp. Unfortunately driveline problems had the gear box stuck in second but the driver still managed to take his time down to a respectable 36.*** seconds.
R32 GTR. The R32 GTR's are a common choice and for good reason. There were at least four there today.
TA22 Celica.
Links.
Hopefully I will have my car ready for the next Come and Try day.
