car idle bounces at 500 rpm

hey guys , today i was driving with my girlfriend and then my check oil light came on. I just filled it up with oil 2 days ago cause it leaks every now and than and the light comes on. after the starting her up and seeing the oil light come on, my car started like dying but didnt die. it than started idling at 500 rpm and i could barley hear my exhaust. took her for a test drive when i got her home and now it bounces like 3 or four times in idle aat 500 than goes to normal. topped it off with some oil too and the light went off/

chances are, it's an unrelated problem, if the oil light was the oil LEVEL light and not the oil PRESSURE WARNING light
