    Drive shaft problem

I am using a Getrag 420 and need to make a drive shaft because of output flange diameter. Is there a output flange that will bolt to the 420g that can mate to an OEM driveshaft such as an e36's unit? Thanks in advance for any help.

Umh, what 'box "Getrag 420" actually is - where does it come from? :)

In most cases the rear part of driveshaft has equal diameter, so you can join them there. Though then you might have problems with center bearing dimensions.

In our latest V8 project we join & shorten ZF5HP30 front part to E30 325 driveshaft just in front of the center bearing (the diameters on the two driveshafts are similar on that part). I've pretty much similar combination in my own V8 cabrio, has worked without problems for the last 10 000km and I don't see a reason why it should suddenly "blow up".

I am trying not to cut up a shaft. Just trying to find a different output flange that can work with a driveshaft I have on hand. Here in this diagram number 1 is what I am looking to swap with a smaller one:

Ahhh... you've S6S 420G 'box. Wouldn't it be easier to change the flange on the driveshaft than on the gearbox?

The output flange in the gearbox has most probably larger diameter main shaft on the 'box than the smaller ones... Though please correct me if I'm wrong, that'd be very easy way to use smaller driveshaft (but does it withstand the torque?)
