What personal safety equipment do you use...

    Helmets:
Simpson LX - open face. Originally bought for auto-x a long time ago. Should be nearing the end of its snell life span.

Bieffe Predator - full face. Bought it for when I was still driving open top cars on track. It now sports a integral headset and microhone for me chatterbox communication system and the back is signed by none other than Bill Auberlen. :D

    Driving Shoes:
Simpson High Top Racing boots - Suede with nomex liner. Perfect for the narrow spaced e30 pedals
Piloti Driving Shoes 3/4 high top - Suede with Nomex liner. Good for driving e36 BMW variants where the pedal spacing is a bit wider. Becuase of the wide ball area this shoe is perfect for heel and toeing those e36 cars. Also a great walking shoe.

    Gloves:
Simpson - Full nomex with Leather Palm and fingers
OMP - Full nomex with suede palm and fingers

    Belts:
4 pt. Schroth Profi II Competition Belts with ASM (Anti Submarine Mechanism)

    Pants:
    Jeans (for now)

    Undergarments:
    Fruit of the loom

Shirts / Jackets: (depending on temp)
    T shirt
    Sweatshirt
    Fleece jacket

One day the clothing articles may be replaced with a drivers suit. We'll see.

I got a G-Force Hybrid full face helmet (SA2000) only because it was required by my local bmwcca. Other than that i roll in street clothes. I was able to sneak away with 2nd place at the last AutoX :)

Some Sparco gloves (nomex lined) (don't know exact name either)

Helmet: One I can borrow from my friend (we have big melons)
          Belts: Stock
          Seat: Stock
          Shoes: Worn in running shoes
Clothes: Whatever's comfortable the days I go to the track
          Gloves: Fox mountain biking gloves

Basically, I rely on my abilities and reflexes, and that great double star safey rating the E30's got for driver safety in head on collisions. Definitely thinking about doing more now that I am taking turns at over 100 MPH however.

Where in Boston? I wouldn't mind going around Christmas time when I'm up that way to visit.

it's south of Boston in Bilerica... exit 6 on rte 93... directions are on the site

awesome place, but expensive... best day to go is on sundays when it's only 20 bucks for a 20 lap a race (during the week there's a 10 dollar day license fee, then 25 bucks for each 15 lap race  )

may be expensive, but it's fuckin worth checkin itout at least once (i've been there like 6 times now)

Woah - are you telling me you were all that shit when you go to DEs and track days and so on?!?

I have been wondering about that - what would be the "accepted" level of racewear according to current "track fashion" :D ? I mean, surely you'd look like a dummy showin' up for a track day in a $1000 Sparco suit along with gloves, racing shoes, a helmet, balaclava, all decked out and ready to race.... urm.... drive..... ?

Or am I wrong? What do you guys think?

Yup, I'm a instructor, and my car is stupid fast, so I take no chances. There are people out there who wear full suits, but you should be a good driver if you do that or else we will laugh at you.

Most of the time, people have no idea of what I'm wearing. The long sleeve shirt looks like a normal shirt, and my undies & socks no one sees.

I think important things to have are.....

I figured prolly a helmet, long-sleeved T-shirt, maybe jeans (?), driving shoes, and gloves - and a bottle in the car within easy reach of both passengers.
