how to get door open

alright first off im sure some jackass is gonna come into this thread not read it and say pull the handle(it would be me but its my thread)... way to go jackass

ok so for a while now maybe like 2 months maybe more my passenger door has been locked, its not the cylinder its the actual lock thats frozen

so with the door being locked shut i cant get to the lock to fix it is there any way to open the door without breaking anything

Your lock actuator is probably jammed. It's not too hard to get the door panel off with the door closed. I've done it a few times before. After than you can unbolt the actuator from the door skin and lift the lock up to unlock like you normally would.

dont forget its a cabrio so i cant even get to the bottom of the door card,
also i can hear the actualor working that is the power locks, but yeah the main bad part is the whole cant get the door card off thing

Actually, Chris, I don't want your motor. I want a V8. But yours would be an easy swap and the V8...wouldn't.

never done it with the bimmer, but I had that problem on an old ford escort, and I used PB Blaster, with the straw in the key-hole, and dumped a 5-second spray in hoping it would seep into the whole mechanism. Then I sprayed down the door lock post (unscrewed the knob, and down the hole). It worked for me.

Don't know if that would help central locking cars.

It could be that the lock actuator is still in the charged state and has not released the lock. Try this- Disconnect the battery and then work the locks from the driver's side in order to drain out all of the electricity. Then see if the passenger door lock can be released with the key or inside of the car.

And if that does not work, being that its a cabrio, you can just jump in. You dont need to open the door.

i dont think the lock motor is that strong that the key or pulling the handle wouldnt unlock it, ive tried shooting wd40 through the key hole, and ive shot it down through the window slot

you would be suprised. i got locked in my car a few times when i was having issues with an aftermarket alarm. i ended up having to take off the plastic piece on the lock, then grab the metal rod with fat plyers and pull up as hard as i could to get the door unlocked...
