    1986 325e No start

Ok, so I am having trouble starting my newly bought 1986 325e. I Have already tested quite a few things and have narrowed down where the problem lays. The problem has to do with no power being sent to the fuel pump. I get almost 0V at the fuel pump fuse and 0V at the fuel pump itself. I have jumped the in-tank pump to make sure it works, and it does. The car starts immediately with starter fluid, so i think that singles out spark plugs and most likely CPS. I have also replaced the main relay and fuel pump relay off of my neighbor's running car. I think the problem may be either or the connectors in between the relay and the fuse or the fusible link, from the few threads I have seen. Could it be anything else? How do I replace the connectors and/or fusible link? Thank you

get your meter out and start narrowing down sections of the harness from the relays to the pumps.
double check continuity in the wires and connectors.

Do you know of any tutorials for doing that?

If it was the visible link the spark plugs wouldn't fire. You said it starts with starter fluid so that rules that out

Yes it can, but I think since I started the car with starter fluid that rules out the CPS

The "other" fuel pump is probably holding you out.

Not necessarily. in my case, assuming it is in fact the cps, itmworks wehn the engine is hot or cold but not warm.its possible that a faulty cps might not give a decent enough signal at starter cranking speed but once it's running the system gets the "engine spinning" message and runs fine

Can't be sure without throwing in a new one which I have on the way.

You mean the one under the driver door? You think it's faulty?

                    Issue Solved!!

The issue turned out to be the fuel pump wire (green/violet) was broken behind and under the passenger seat where the thick wire breaks into the two smaller green violet wires that power each individual fuel pump. The car starts but now has a high idle problem. (Idles at about 1800-2200RPM). I will be posting another thread for this.
