M20 loss of power & other magical things

    Hey guys,

I dislike posting about an M20 losing power because its been discussed at length, but alas I am going bananas.

The issue: Car has been driving great for the past 10k km. Went to Florida and back (from Montreal :D) and been a solid daily. Started one day and wasn't smooth. The car shivers around 2k rpm now and has lost like 30-40% of its power. It also blue smokes at idle ...randomly (I notice it at a red light but Ive had to drive it in the past week and it only blue smoked on about 3 out of 7 times I've driven it).

    Things I've checked / changed:

TPS, ICV, AFM. I do NOT think it has a vacuum leak (breaks fine no hissing sound, had the issue last summer...). Also changed spark plugs. Spark boots are ok...one of them seems to spark sideways but I dont think thats a major issue when its shoved in (??).

Fun facts: Just had it washed. Right rear light stopped working. Left front blinker is on cocaine (300 blinks a minute). Doubt its related but heh. Out of ideas.

What ill test this weekend: Compression, O2, fuel filter.

    Thoughts?

    Many thanks

Rocker arm? Broken valve spring? Burned valve? Bad wire?
Blue smoke.....a ring failed? Burned valve? Valve guide or valve seal? Any chocolate milkshake or foam?...head gasket? Look at both oil and coolant.

Check all your basic tune-up stuff first to eliminate the simple things.

Turn signals sound like bulbs and relays.

Found the issue ! Rocker arm sheered off...

Have to admit, was quite surprised to see that.

A broken rocker arm occurs fairly often.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
