Do you have to replace headgasket to replace profile gasket?

OK so I guess I was too hasty to drop the head on the block. I fastened the head on a week back, waiting for a few parts. Then I got to work rebuilding the timing case, just to realize there doesnt seem to be a way to get the profile gasket and rear timing case in with the head already on.

I hope I am wrong and there's another way to skin this cat.

Do I need to replace the head gasket to get the profile gasket on?

I'd use RTV but it seems like it just wouldnt work, maybe it will, but the profile gasket makes a circle and I just dont know how I'd get the RTV to the rear, behind the coolant galley.

You shouldn't have to replace the HG to do the PG, but it's easier for some. There are a few threads in this section covering this topic in detail with a few helpful hints, do take a look at those and I suspect you'll see which option is best for you.
