    325IX T3 Turbo Ostrich 2.0 Tuning. Help!

I have a 1990 BMW 325ix Turbo that I purchased in Denver 2 weekends ago. Seller accepted my offer if I drive the car home, and send back his Megasquirt 2.0 ECU back, and in return I got his stock Motronic ECU with Ostrich 2.0.

    Specs:
    t3 Turbo
    .63 a/r hot side
    .50 compressor
    AFM, & IAC delete
    42 lbs injectors
    ARP headstuds
    etc...

Seller included stock AFM with sale.

As expected, i'm without a proper tune for the car. I have little experience with TunerPro, or tuning in general. I have TunerPro installed, and I understand I need a .bin & .xdf file. Could you guys help?

    Thanks!
    Mike

I don't think the car will ever run that without the AFM and internal temp sensor.
I know you probably don't want to hear it, but I'd buy my own plug and play MS unit to install along with IAT sensor and tune that.

      Afm

      Previous owner included AFM.

The car ran and drove great without AFM & megasquirt 2.0.
How is the Ostrich/Motronic ECU not able to work without an AFM?

The Ostrich is nothing more than a flashable chip. You should only concern yourself with the Motronic and the AFM and getting a tune together for the Motronic. I have no experience with the older DMEs, but spend some time on the Tunerpro forum. Lots of your questions will get answered there by reading lots.

Megasquirt was running off of speed density. (MAP and IAT)

Your stock motronic cannot run this way.

            Maf

So regardless I need to reinstall the stock AFM?

AFM*, but yes. In front of the turbo btw.

Previous owner gave me the stock definition file (.xdf) and .bin.

Anyone here have a Turbo M20 using Ostrich 2.0?

How easy is it to install the stock AFM onto a turbo M20? Anyone here done it before/have pics?

I'd consider selling the stock ECU and Ostrich 2.0 plus stock AFM, along with stock injectors (plus cash) to fund and just buy an new Megasquirt 2.0 ($800).

What are your guys thoughts? I know the Megasquirt would be more applicable, plus I would no longer be required to run with an MAF.

Thanks for all of your responses, clearly I am a beginner but I have to start somewhere.

A gentleman here sells a plug and play unit with a base tune (to get the car driving, not boosting) for $650. Alias "WhoDwho".
It's what many of us have done with turbo m20's.
