I got an email from Eastwood advertising that welder not more than 1 week after ordering my Miller Diversion 180. I have to say, it looks tempting but in the small amount of time I spent trying to research it I couldn't find much feedback.

About then I remember the POS arc welder I purchased from Eastwood about 8 years ago. I remember vividly how happy I was replacing it with my Miller mig. I know it's not comparing apples to apples in that case but it does bring up a good point when comparing "no-name" equipment to the likes of Miller or Lincoln - you get what you pay for...

It looks to be a decent inverter welder. Eastwood is pretty good about warrantying stuff.

The cheapest Miller AC/DC inverter welder is going to run you around $1300 for a Diversion 165, and it doesn't come with a footpedal, which will run you another $140.

For a hobbyist welding a handful of exhausts here and there, fabbing a few custom pieces for a car, it's hard to justify another $640 to get the Miller. On the flip side, when it comes time to sell a Miller or Lincoln, people will pay top dollar for a used unit.

Even that isnt that great. I wouldn't go lower than my Syncrowave 250.

While I tend to agree, the eccno is a decent unit, and will serve the hobbyist well for 99% of what they are into, unless its hard core fabrication and building projects with some serious materials

appreciate the input guys. ive been using my dads millermatic 185 mig for years for any of my welding needs, so im not looking for a unit i plan to do everything with. mainly for practicing tig and for aluminum parts. considering the cost of welders i may just hold off for now to consider my options

People pay more money for toolboxes that are home enthusiast. Drop the cash and get a Miller Syncrowave. Fuck that solid state dynastar bullshit. In fact get an old used Syncrowave one with thicker copper windings.
