LSD parts swapping with open diff?

1st off, pardon if this question seems dumb but I'm not "the diff guy" So I've discovered that my car has an open diff (2.79 if I remember correctly) and a parts car I have has an LSD (I don't remember that one's ratio) Depending on the ratio difference between the two I was wondering if it's possible to take the ring gear from the 2.79 open and put it into an LSD case with all the clutch plate internals to essentially build a 2.79 LSD.

    Ring and pinion gears, yes.

On a similar vein, I have a 4.27 Torsen diff from a Z3, does anyone know if I can swap in the guts from a 3.23 open diff?

LSD parts swapping with open diff?

The only thing is the carrier for diffs with a ratio below 3.15 have a different spacing to allow for the larger pinion gear. So to swap a 2.79 open diff to a lsd you need a donor diff that's a lsd that's a 3.15 or below. But you will be able to swap the Torsen with the 3.23
