Only the 84 318i had the three speed from 85 on they were 4 speed

blower motor /resister replacement pics

hey guys, i'm having at mine at the moment right now. I have tried cleaning the contacts with wire brushes, wd-40, and q-tips. I keep on trying, putting it in and out, and STILL only the 4th speed works...what am I doing wrong? Is there something that should be visibly wrong here?

dont know how to tell but if it only works on four then its time to get a new one ive had the same issue before and quite frankly its easier just to replace the damn thing not expensive either i have spares of these things just beacuse i know its a pita when this happensOriginally posted by bmwm42PNW vulture pm me for parts

Hmm, well I mean it'd make more sense buying new, since these these are commonly faulted. I'll shop around ;)

So this is literally driving me fucking insane.
My blower motor works intermittently. I've tried 3 motors, 4 resistors, one that was new at that, to still no avail. I've checked the #20 fuse, traced all of the wires that I can, the switch is still good, there isn't any corrosion anywhere, and still NOTHING.
