Then what's the technical term? I kept thinking that's what it was called. Whatever it is - it's unneeded. My 88 doesn't have one. My dad's 89 does, though. Soon to be removed!

It's a vibration dampener. Nothing more, nothing less.

It doesn't really seem to do a damn thing though.

BMW hasn't used them since ever, and alot of e30's didn't come with them to start with. Flex disc construction hasn't changed either.

yeah i took mine off. couldnt tell a diffrence. i can go faster thoiugh, dont know how much. took about a .8 of a pound off maybe. hahahha;)

i got the z4 3.0 shifter in last weekend with new guibo and center suportbearing and new bushings all around in the consold(sheet metal stamped one) and fresh fluid in tranie. i love the shifter. i laughed like the first couple days when i shifted. it was so funny how short it is. its like a big toggle swich. didnt even bend the selecter rod. i made a new back bushing, made the consold alot stiffer. anyone intersested i can find the partnumbers and show ya what i did.

                          Hi.
I bought a shortshift from understeer, and the shift lever that came in the package was with this part number:
                          25111434148

After checking realoem using this part number, the models that appeared are:

                          I have a 320i, with a ZF gearbox.

                          It was a straight swap.
                          Just swap and play.
40 minutes took the job, with a factory jack, and one jackstand.

                          Easy job.

                          It´s very good.
                          I aprove the shortshift :)

it seems like the best would be the m roadster bottom end with the x5, or maybe even higher, top. would it be possible to extend the top of the m roadster or other lever? i dunno if welding would be strong enough. or maybe take the top upper partion that the shifter mounts to and drill all the metal and rubber out of it and mount it ontop of the m lever
