After searching craigslist, asking questions on here and doing a lot of research, I finally found an E30 I thought was worth buying. The previous owner was also an enthusiast, he owned a second E30 that he daily drives, with over 250k miles on it. A lot of work had been done by the previous owner, including water pump, timing belt, shocks and struts, oil pan gasket, crankshaft pulley, and starter, all with receipts. I just completed the valve adjustment and the car feels completely different. Better gas mileage and a bit quicker too, though the ticking got a little bit louder actually. All in all its a very clean car that I felt was well maintained and worth the buy. My first project will be a manual swap, though the automatic is very smooth and gives an enjoyable easy drive still.
