    S52 power steering

My power steering pump is groaning like crazy, tried the repair kit but it was pointless as the internals are pitted and it's obviously pooched. I can't find any reman'd units anywhere for a reasonable price but I'm noticing the early M50 pumps are almost identical (from what I can see there are 3 pump variations on the e36 24v setups).

The M52 units are obviously different but the m50 ones look nearly identical. Same bracket design, slightly different port spacing (90 degree offset vs like 75 on the S52).

Anyone ever retrofit one? Can it be bolted on? I run custom steering lines designed to make it easy to replace hoses so I'm not concerned if the port positions change a bit.

You can use m50 Power steering pump. The pumps are basically same in all engines. But the mounting is different in oil filter housings that have plastic filter cover than with metallic cover. So you can use the oil pump from engines that has the metallic cover.
