The optimal size was 235/40-17, that's probably why. It's too tall.

I'm running 245/40 on 15x10s that fit my stock body E30. Trying to figure out what size tire I'll be able to fit
Since you managed to do that, go on willtheyfit.com and do some calculations yourself. Doubt anyone here is gonna be able to call out a tire size for you since I'm sure you did some custom fender work to manage that.

Pulled from Mystikal's wheel fitment thread

It's a silly design, they went +20 so they can be used up front but the fitment is too aggressive, you can only run a 215/40 tire at most. With the narrower 17x8 +25s, you could run 235/40/17 square. Which is why I gave them that fitment when they designed the wheel. Silly move.

That rear size will limit you to 215/40 tires. So you can run that size all around with just a mild rear fender roll. For no rolling, run the 17x8 all around with 215/40s.

Very nice. Do you fear having your center caps stolen ? ;-)

Lol. Nah, those pics were snapped just outside the tire shop. They didn't put them in.

What tire size is that? I'm assuming your fenders are rolled, you getting any rubbing?

215/40 all around. Rear fenders are rolled. Front rubs a tad on full turn.

Nice I thought 215s would look a bit stretched on them but those look good, thanks for making my decision easier :)

What massive big brakes do you guys run on the 17x8 non-concave set up?

I went over IE bbk's with them before purchase and you can clear the biggest front and rear BBKs that IE currently sells. I don't know about the Massive kits specifically but maybe this helps you a bit.

You can fit a floating 300x21 (11.75"x0.81") w/ Superlite. No spacers. Check here for more options.

Some have fitted the Monster 332x32mm kit

I run the biggest kit that massive sells.
                              332mm front and 310mm rear.

The 8" wide wheels clear without issue.
I am running the 2mm spacer that Lee includes in the kit as a precaution.

                              ^That's my car :)

BTW These wheels would accept a 355x32mm rotor. But obviously that would be waaaaaaaayyyyy overkill. ;-) Call me a neo-traditionalist, but I still prefer the original flat face ARC8 wheel. ;-)
