    S38B36 VIN Stamp?

I picked up an s38 swapped e30 and do not have history on the engine. Is there a marking or vin stamped somewhere on the blocked where I could find information on the car it came out of?

    Thanks guys.

And a couple photos for attention.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

There should be a VIN sticker on the driver's side of the head, above the ITBs.

      Yep, just a sticker.

      Often it peels off.

Might want to look at the DME as well. VIN should be on the DME as well. It helped confirm several facts on the donor car situation when I went to purchase my Euro motor.

have anymore info on the swap? Im curious to see how they laid out the coolant system/radiator. That was the hardest part of the swap for me.

I posted some pictures in my thread, but its a hybrid system it looks like.

The plot thickens... It turns out there are no stamps on the head/ block. Tell me if this is the right place to look?

Nope, only place on the engine that will have a VIN number is the cam tray. You can see the sticker in this picture of a cam tray.

The DME will also have a VIN, but who's to say that the DME and the engine came from the same donor.

It's very noticeable. If you haven't seen it by now it's probably been removed.

                            S38B36 VIN Stamp?

If it's anything like other BMW's the vin should be stamped on the starter hole on the block. That's how my m30 and m10 are.
