Tires looking for a daily driver. NON E30 sized

Not looking to spend a fortune as lets just say life has thrown me a sucky change up and I missed. So it's back to the dug out to be benched.

Ventus V12 for $91.25 a tire with $100 mail in rebate for four 215-45-17

Sumitomo HTR Z III $76.25 with $50 dollar rebate

    BRIDGESTONE
POTENZA S-04 POLE POSITION for $112 bit more tire than I need for back and forth to work

Or the continential DWS for 112 a piece.

Continental just released the replacement for the DW, it's called the Extreme Contact Sport, similar to the S-04/PSS with a higher TW rating (340). I changed over to them on my e39 m5 just to give them a shot compared to the PSS and so far, so good... Not quite the same dry traction as the PSS but better in the wet, and a good bit cheaper. I hated the S-04's, I don't think the dry performance reflects the treadwear rating, they were not even close to the PSS in any category for me and they wore extremely quickly.

These are for an e36/5 m52 powered, traction will ne a minor issue but I'm not going to be driving like a retard on public road. Just planning on a 30 mile r/t daily and maybe a fun drives on weekend.

Lighter car than the M5 by a long shot so tread wear should be better. Hankook's come out to under 70 bucks a tire if I p/u at local tirerack warehouse. I'd love the PSS but too much tire for daily usage. DW replacement maybe I'll look at tirerack again.

Oh these are going on 17x8 wondering if they are going to be stretched as I hate stretched tire look. Thinking they are gonna be stretched judging by photos on google, guess I'll mount them on the OZ's as they are 17x7.5's

I run the Dws on my 135 cab, and they have been a fabulous tire even in the wet, and for the price.

Modern suspension and traction control I'm sure helps. Think 318Ti so it's a half e30. I don't need to kill it with tires.

Has anyone used the cheap Ventus V12's?

The m5 before this one came with V12 Evo's that were about half-worn... They were pretty loud, lacking in dry grip, and not amazing in the rain (probably more wear than anything else on that). My gripe with cheaper tires, which for me have been Hankooks, Toyo's and Fuzions, is that they seem to become basically useless as they wear, whereas high quality tires tend to maintain their qualities. That's just my opinion, but I find it much more pleasant to drive a set of Michelins down to the cords than some Hankooks down to the wear bars.

I checked 225/45/17 on TireRack, because that's the stock front size for e36 m3's, and the DWS is on close-out for $102. Regular DW's are $90- something. I'd say one of those two are your best bet.

THanks I will look at those, I don't need snows I will have a truck or a small SUV come winter. TireRack is 15 minutes away from me so I can easily swing down and get them too.

Michelin's, I agree they are quiet and are nice.

                I loved my Continental DW

They have insane traction in the wet. Dry is not as good, compared to its competitors.

Ventus V12, I never liked them. They lose traction without warning.

Loved my DWs and my DWSs on the E39. Both were great in the rain; I got about twice the life out of the DWSs as I did the DWs. I just put a set of DWS06s on the E90, and liking them a lot so far.

I'm on my second set of DWSs and have nthe thing bad to say about them. We put Michelin Pilot AS3 on the eta and I'm thinking to steal them lol

The michelins are def more $$ so given the budget you can't go wrong with the Contis. Just keep in mind they tend to get noisier as the tread goes down

I have the ventus v12, they're alright but nothing special, I wouldn't have gotten them but a set for 80 was hard to say no to. They've lasted a year and a half so far with a bit of spirited driving
